Default New altenator + batt - still not charging 94 940

Daughter's car dies; get battery checked at local parts store and says altenator is bad and will affect batt if not replaced. Replace altenator w/ 3rd party one. Does not charge. Parts store confirmed I had it wired correctly when took back core. Put in new batt today and still not charging. Is there a regualtor in these older ones that may need replacing or what am I missing><? Thanks 94 940 turbo

I'm sure it's something simple. I'm no good with any of the older models. There are some really good members in the 240/740/940 forum. I would recommend this question gets posted there. I did a search and there are numerous similar posts. Sometimes it is just the tension on the belt is incorrect, sometimes the wiring is incorrect, sometimes a simple fuse is blown.

here's a thread to show you one example
here's a search I used to find other related issues

Does the battery light come on when you turn the key to positon 2? If not, then your alternator will never start charging the battery. Then you will have to check the light in the dashboard or the D+ wiring from the alternator to the dash.
