Default New Here - Need Help

Hi all,

I'm new to the Volvo family and new to the forum. I just picked up a nice '11 XC90 R-design, so far it's great. It only came with one key fob (and a valet key) and I want to get another one programmed. I bought a pre-owned Volvo fob on ebay and need to get it working.

Everything I have read here says "only the dealer can do it," is that true? There isn't a way to do it myself?

I appreciate the input.

Thanks,
bdavis91

Default Brake light problem

I have a 2004 Volvo XC90, the brake light on the rear hatch is working but the rear brake lights are not. I was told Brake Control Module. Any help would be appreciated.

That is not true. No one can. A used one is a paperweight.

It won't be the BCM. But you really should start a thread instead of hijacking someone else's for something totally different.

Thanks ES6T.

What are my options? I want to plan ahead and not get stuck in the event that we lose the one key fob we have.

Your only option is a new fob in the original packaging and a dealer or indy shop with the capability to perform software downloads.
