To be or not to be...
Hello fellow Volvo drivers,
Who here has experience with Volvo dealership vehicle inspections? I ask because I will need an evaluation/inspection of my Volvo and I would like to know of personal experience or first-hand knowledge of the quality and depth of the inspections. At 180.00 U.S. Dollars I'm unsure as to how dedicated the evaluation will be. I keep in mind that there are sure to be options to look into particular aspects of the vehicle, i.e. crankcase, transmission, ABS system, etc. This comes at additional costs, if you are unable/unwilling to take the time to learn to do it yourself. Nevertheless, I return to the main premise upon input of how well the dealership inspections are; if $180.00 is in-fact the correct price, might I have a better experience at a private repair shop (Volvo Specialist only). Any and all input is well greeted. Thank you all.

RE: To be or not to be...
That certainly would be well met, good to know a mech. like that and one who appreciates Volvo. Regardless, my concern is not necessarily that I simply want the fluids checked and someone to tell me all the lights are funtional, I am looking for a professional in-depth evaluation of the condition of the Volvo. I can see where man hours come into play, for example, I asked a shop about there inspections and I was informed that an hour's time is the standard inspection. I can imagine a professional in Volvo exprience will probably have no problem in that time to properly and dynamically evaluate the condidtion. So I come back after all that to notate the importance, to me, of a dedicated evaluation. And of course without becoming an ego-meniacle **** fancy-pants, I only stress that I am truly looking for a full evaluation so as I can take ALL necessary steps to condidtion the Volvo to near emaculate standing. Whether my opinion is relevant or not will not treaded too heavily, so I keep in mind perhaps the dynamics involve the repor' with the shop/mech. and your personal knowhow with your Volvo and compontents involved. And all the way down the mountain you come to the conclusion of true quality for a reasonable price. Like the Jumbo Jack.

RE: To be or not to be...
The Volvo in question is a 1991 744 B230FT. featuring an M47 transmission. Originally the Volvo was fitted with the stock AW-71L, however since we all know automatic transmissions are the work of the devil I had the Volvo fitted with the M47. The mech. stated that the driveshaft was a custom cut and fitted. The M47 is used and seems to have passed it's prime yet still remains quite robust and smooth. I'm pretty sure after looking at product visuals, Garret T25 Turbine air compressor. Anything more might be overkill. What do you think?

That sounds like a good combo.
Have the strut rob bushings,Balljoint, tierods inspected.(front end should be covered then)
Have the Front engine seals, timing belt, and drive belts inspected.
Make sure the Vent system is not clogged,Also make sure the Distributor doesn't need resealing.(Should cover most of the engine)
Have Brake pads and rotor thickness checked.
Also have the engine mounts checked.
That is about it for the common issues for the 740.
Hope this helps some.
