Default oil

I wouldn't recommend it. using oil thicker than factory specs can cause engine lubrication issues, as the oil will be to thick to pass through certain oil ports and parts won't be lubricated. If you have a manual, look up what oils are recommended.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply, the manual says 0W 30 but it says I can use higher grade of oil.

I use 10W-30 but I'm in ATL. I've always read the width of summer to winter numbers are the cause of oil break down. The wider the quicker the breakdown. Oils I trust are Mobil1, Valvoline and Castrol. Nothing but full synthetic. I was told/read blends are a waste.

I once put a quart of cheap gas station oil in an Iron Duke and tried to drive app. 100 freeway miles. The lifters would not pump up. So I did a quicky K Mart pit stop, changed oil. All was good. Two oils I stay away from are Quaker State and Pennzoil.

Default steering pump

My 2008 volvo xc90 d5 is hard on steering wheel when I'm doing 3 point turn, it only turns when I'm revving the engine it also has high vibration. The local mechanic told me that I need a new power steering pump as well as new engine mount and bracket. Does anyone encountered a problem like this?

If you open up your hood and see your engine rock back and forth when you rev it, then it is likely you have a bad mount. Awd vehicles are typically more difficult to steer, but the fact that it's being amplified might suggest that the pump is on it's way out. You probably have to rev it up because it is leaking pressure somewhere and thus needs higher pressure in order to even function. Or it could be low on fluid lol, but I'm pretty sure you've already checked that. Ps you might want to start a new thread for this subject.
Good luck mate.
