I am looking to buy a 850turbo wagon or R wagon or a V70 turbo wagon or R wagon, Which are the best years fot HP up to 2002 (that is most likely all I will be able to get for the $8000 I want to spend). I love the R in either the 850 or the V70, I would like a stick but auto is not a deal breaker, I like the interior in the newer V70 but think they are all nice. I know that the drivetrain is basicly the same in all of the 2.3 cars with the upgrade mainly being different computer settings for the higher HP of the R. But I have seen the V70 with the 2.4 low pressure turbo say they have over 240hp stock? What is the best car to get with concerns to getting max HP without having to modify the internals of the engine?

 

My opinion stay with the 850R.

 

why is that?

 

The AWD (V70R) cars had alot of AWD problems.
The 1999 V70 is a full electronic throttle setup (POS) and Varible Valve timing.
So that leaves either the 850R or a 98 V70R but that is AWD as well.

Thats why I sad stay with the 850R.
