Default TROUBLE SHOOTING>> HEADLAMP WIPER

HI,

Was wondering if you could help me with my new (to me)ride again?

My Left Headlamp wiper works but my right one does not, its squirts but no wiper movement. This is not a big deal to me but if its an easy fix and I can do it myself then im all ears....

Thanks,

I've read from other boards that it is quite common for the wiper motor to go bad. The thing is, is it really worth buying a new motor and paying someone to replace it? If you're handy, and have some spare time, you can try to repair the failed motor. From what I have read, the contacts inside just get dirty and need a cleaning. Anyway I'll post what I read from another user on VS.

I've had both my headlight wiper motors (and most of the front end of the car!) off over the past wk to do a few jobs around the bumper, one of which was to repair the LH h/l wiper motor that had almost given up on me. Depends how far you want to go with repairing/replacing your motor unit, but I pulled mine apart to see what was happening inside the casing (I'm the type of guy who hates being ripped of for new parts by main dealers). Anyway after inspecting it for about 30mins with no obvious answers, it turns out there's a small carbon square between two copper contacts inside that just wanted turning around - don't know why coz it didnt look that worn or anything. Fixed it all back together and it worked fine!
Bottom line is that you can have the motor replaced and be fine or you can try to open it up and clean those contacts and be okay.
