P3 Volvos ICM, DIM languages
Hello there, was sniffing all around about language change on ICM & DIM for Volvos (specifically P3 platform) and thought why not to ask here.
Its all clear that traditional way is to go to dealership, throw 100-200 Euros at them and job will be done. And another one is to use D5T5.com and if you got dice already its pretty much half of the dealers price.
However, during my sniffing adventure I stumbled on quite a few posts/ guys (sadly most posts are decade old or from another part of the world) who claim that they can change it to any language you like or even to custom one (for few extra Euros) for cheap if you go to back of the dark alley to a candy van and bring 20 Euros or so
. And that got me pondering- why I can't do it my self? I mean, I got a van and a candy and finding dark alley isn't that hard
.
Jokes aside.
What I understood that what they do is(I might be completely wrong here tho)1. they read info on ICM & DIM chips, 2.decode what they read, 3. and basically just google translate it/ put whatever text they like in place of say: "Rußfilter voll siehe Handbuch" and replace it with "Soot filter full see manual", 4. compile it and write the edited file back to ICM & DIM.
Question is, are there any FREE softwares capable of reading, writing, decoding info from ICM & DIM via OBD2?
I know its basically cooking a chicken with slaps at this point
but I kind of curious about this.
