not sure if you've ever seen or driven a BBC or a properly built small block... If you search the internet you will find that there are actually kits for installing small block V8s (Ford or Chevy are most common) in a 700/900. I actually saw the one owned by Paul Newman over at Volvo of Westport which had all the mechanics agog. It featured a 5.0 Ford stuffed into a 960 Wagon by Converse Engineering.

LOL been racing for 50 years never seen a sbc or bbc in a 740 or 940 wagon. I build 10,000 ,11,000 rpm sbc,s and bbc,s so ya lol I know what they look like. That guy in my Sig is Bill Jenkins one of my highly respected Idols.
If so I thought I get some inside info

If I did a Ford motor it would be a 557 BBF

It's not a Volvo but it's equally as wild. If you have the desire you can stuff anything into almost anything. Just couldn't quite get it low enough to not cut the hood. Nice thing is it looked like a high school kid cut a hole for a cold air intake so it was still stealthy. At best maybe a sbc. No one could have guessed fewer believed.

LOL
Did you use the existing chassis or was it chop chop and keep the sheet metal. The torch is my friend tubing is an Art. I guess you can reuse the steering componets and gut the rest. Hid the 14.5 slicks and fake hub caps.

my reference to the small blocks is not a slight on big blocks (having driven a 67 Vette with a 454 blue printed to LS7 specs), more to suggest they are proven to fit and bolt in kits are available. Check out jagsthatrun.com - for $300 you can buy a mounting kit designed for a Chevy small block and transmission. Post pictures when done. :-)

And I didn't take it that way. A small block is more than enough to fry the tires and plaster a smile on someone's face in a light car.
