Default Rear washer pump

I have a 1998 Volvo V70. The mechanic says my rear/tailgate washer pump is broken. Where is it located? Is this something I can replace myself? They wanted to charge double for what it appears I can buy the pump.
Thanks.
Adam

The pump is located in the bottle. Which is in the R/F fender.

It's easy to fix, I just replaced mine on my 89 740 wagon. However, the Volvo part is about $80.00!!!

Check out

or

for an after market/OEM replacement at a fraction of the cost.

Recommendation: Get a replacement gasket from the dealer. It's only a couple of bucks. When you install the motor, make sure you use a generous portion petroleum jelly around the gasket and the part of the motor that goes through the gasket. The gasket will have no hole in it. What you do is to make a pin hole in the middle of the gasket. Install the gasket into the bottle and then plunge hose on the bottom of the motor through the gasket as you install the motor. You should coat the hose on the motor with Vaseline first. It's easier to do this if you remove the washer bottle. This way you can check for leaks *before* the bottle is in the car where it is exceptionally difficult to see where the leak is coming from.

I replaced both front and rear motors as they had both gone bad. They work perfectly. No leaks. The secret is the petroleum jelly and the new gaskets.

Hello all.. I'm having an issue with my rear wiper. Actually just the nozzle. It's not spraying out water. Does it share the same tank as the front windshield? Everything on the front is fine.

Either pump is not strong enough or you may have a clogged line.

I'll have to start breaking down the rear panels and follow the line back from the nozzle I guess. Just got the rear tailgate panel repair kit in the mail today so I'll be doing that as well. Wish me luck.

I couldn't find the line leading tothe rear windshield. I did notice that I'm not getting water to the headlight wipers as well, just a little trickle before it actually gets to the headlight wiper. Maybe they're related.

Tailgate repair was not too bad. Hardest part was getting off the handle trim.

The hose should go along by the hinge somewhere on the passenger side then go inside and run down by the taillights. Then under the right side floor panel.

Yes I followed it from the nozzle all the way till it went underneath the rear seats. Shouldn't the "T" valve be somewhere under the hood though? I have to get up on ramps to get a better look so I can find the clogged valve.

I believe I have 2 separate issuses here. No water to BOTH the rear window AND the headlight wipers. If I'm correct, I believe the headlight and the windshield share the same pump. (which shouldbe ok because I get water to the windshield).Which in turn means I have a clogged line going to the headlights wipers.

Now for therear window washer....I'm not hearing the pump. (which has it's own for the rear). Am I correct? 98 v70
