Default rear washer pump

My 94 855 lost it's squirt ability for the rear window before I even got my hands on it. Now that it's january and salt rules supreme over the roads in NY I would like to finally get this thing working again. Now... where is the pump located?

First listen and see if you hear the pump. If so remove the panels in the hatch area on the right side. There is an inline filter that gets clogged. After removing the panels look for the line and then you should see the filter.

I'll take a look this afternoon once I finish with classes.

By right side I assume that you mean driver's side.

No, it's the passenger side. I cleaned the filter and did the 'cleaning' on the pump itself. My pump was beyond repair, so I bought a new one at Eeuroparts for about $30. I hooked it up and it's still not working. I'm going to do some investigating this weekend, but I'm a little confused on why it's not working. - AB

Check the voltage across the electrical connector for the pump while someone is pressing the switch. I checked that on mine before removing the pump to clean it. My pump was siezed up because of some buildup on the metal plate that holds the 2 gears in place. Here's some pics i took when i had mine apart.

Ludeless, I tried cleaning by your instructions but it didn't do the trick. It was permanently seized. Thus I bought a new one and it doesn't seem to work. It definitely gets power and the pump is working (by audible), but no fluid is moving. I need to confirm I don't have an inline block somewhere. - AB

I'm not sure about this setup, but you may have to prime the pump and put fluid in the line for it to get suction and start working.

Off to rip up the car!

I still haven't actually gotten around to this job yet, but I have one final question. Should I be looking high or low for the pump and filter?

The filter is in the hatch area. The pump is in the washer bottle mounted in the front fender R/F wheel well.

Is the filter up high in the hatch area or is down low?

So would that mean both pumps are in the washer bottle?

The filter is low in the hatch area...you need to pull up the LH side of the floorboard to access it (at least on the wagons...). The pump is below the washer fluid bottle, you can access it from underneath the car.

Great! I found the filter in the rear without too much trouble, I'll look for the pump tomorrow. I found a second filter up by the filler neck, is this for the headlight washers or something else?

Both filters are clogged I'll order them when I determine the status of the pump.
