Hi fellow Volvo lovers. I wanted to know if anyone else has had ongoing problems with their remote starter?

I bought a used 2012 XC60 in Sept 2015 & had the remote starter installed at the dealership. It has never really worked properly with the message - "No remote start gear not in P", which happens about 60% of the time. I also have to be very close for it to start.

The vehicle msg didn't display when the service team tried to diagnose it & closed it off saying it works fine. When I picked it up, I tried starting it a few times with the dealership manager and of course there were issues. The manager made some comments like: you can't expect it to work from a distance (he was 10 feet away when if FINALLY worked and said "see it works") - I thought it was up to 100?! If the car is warm (which it wasn't) it won't start - so I asked if it doesn't work in the summer to cool the car?! He also said it has to be in direct sight with the car. Doesn't this work on radio frequency?

Has anyone had similar issues? If it works, how far are you from your car?
