Recently acquired a 2005 S60 with 17" ORESTES wheels with Run Flat Tires that have 20,000 miles on them and will not be around to much longer to judge by their wear. My question is this: Can I use regular tires instead of the RFT's? I see it hinted I may not due to the rims being special from Volvo intented for RFT's only. I hope not as these tires ride very rough.
I do understand the advantages to RFT's, but after 30 years of driving and never having had a flat tire, the ride that these tires provide with their iron like sidewalls is a bit too much. Plus their tread life seems suspect to me as this car was my uncles (before his demise) and it was never driven hard let alone not taken care of as it was his baby and is in showroom condtion.

I am not sure if you can run regular tires or not. But another wall you might hit is that a tire shop may not work on it unless you buy the runflats.
