Default S60 Dead????

I receive Car and Driver magazines and they said, in this month's issue about the new 2010 cars, that the S60 is going away. So am I to assume that Volvo is getting rid of their S60 model even though they have a really sweet concept car for the new 2010 S60. I am getting mixed information and I was wondering if anyone knew about this? I would show the article but car & driver does not have the article up on their website yet, and the funny thing is that they are promoting the new concept car on their website. I am soooooo confused because my next car is going to be the new S60. Granted it will be in a couple of years after I save up and all of that stuff, but I am going to be sad if they get rid of this model.

Here is the S60 Concept Car:

They can't...it's their competitor against Camry, Accord, Taurus.

Don't interpret literally everything you read. A couple of years ago, C & D noted that the Ford 500 and Mercury Monterey were "dead" when in reality they had simply been renamed Taurus and Sable, respectively. So, maybe the S60 replacement will have a new name. Volvo sure touted its show car as an S 60 replacement. Maybe its not yet quite ready for production. I'd read here that S60 production had stopped in the plant in Belgium. Who knows, except Volvo. And, of course, introduction of a new model may depend on when the current models are mostly sold off. No maker wants to have to heavily rebate the leftovers. Seems odd that Volvo would abandon the midsized sedan market.

I agree. That would be weird if they get rid of the midsized fleet. Especially since it is one of Volvo's top sellers. I see more S60 in my area than I do any other Volvo.

The plant in Belgium stopped producing the current model of S60s...not S60 forever. Besides, the S60 is the S70's successor. Maybe the S60 will have a successor.

I want a 240 successor.

with RWD not fwd.
Also, (correct me if im wrong), but doesnt their 'dead' monker mean thats it not going to be produced for the next model year? That doesnt make the car dead... just on hold.
