S60 tunned up and imrpoved?
I drive an S60 2.0T, 186 hp,2005 model, European standards, made under the newest and hardest environmental directions of E.U, the EU 2005, with which a car should produce even less CO2, etc. To achieve these new standards the exhaust of the car has new and more filters, which as a side-affect cuts down power (some say that the car can't "breath" well).
The questions are two. First of all is that true an second by modifying/changing the exhaust system will the car gain more hp without any damages?

I dont know if thats true, but I had a Mitsubishi with an aftermarket (performance) exhaust and a perfomance cat (Thermal Research exhaust and a Random Technologies cat) and the emissions were cleaner than stock. It all depends what u buy.
Yes the car will gain more Hp and Torque with a better free flowing exhuast system. No damages should occur. Since your running a turbo you should look into a 3" downpipe to a 2.5" CAT-back system. Unless you are going with a bigger turbo then you want to modify the CAT-back to full 3" as well.
Thank you all for the tips. By "damage" I mean that maybe by trying to do something to improve the car the results won't be the ones expeced and the car will run in an inconclusive way.
I think if u research it and go with a quality company, I dont think u need to worry. And if u find a system u like, dont be afraid to ask what others who have used it think.
Happy New Year to all. Safe drives!!! I worry because here (Europe-Greece) you don't get that much of a quality as in U.S. in services, etc. Plus the fact that a lot of settings and standards are different between american and european Volvo's. Imagine that you cannot easily purchase a Volvo S60 R because the price for an new one (65.000Euros equals 78.000 USD) is so high, reaching the price of a Porsche (same price for the Boxster S, little cheaper than a Cayenne). Add to all this the fact that there aren't that much of technicians involved with Volvo's (rare cars due to price policy as described above) and then anyone ... will worry!!! Happy New Year again..!
Have u tried a search. Theres got to be some compnies around u. I know when I first started looking there were quite a few in Europe. Dont know if these are in the links section...if not will add them;

I am following the advices of "S70driver" and "S60 R" and looking for a 3" downpipe to a 2.5" CAT-back system
. Still waiting for replies from various dealers and firms.........

I 've tried that once with my previous car. The outcome was a disaster! The car couldn't go over 65 - 70 mph (95 - 110 Kmh). And above all that, the guy who made the whole system (downpipe, etc) was saying that he did everything fine, pointing... gas problem!! LOL..
