S70 T5 R AWD? Does this exist?
As most know, I have owned a 98 S70, a 2002 V70, and currently a 2000 S40. But to me, the best looking style has always been the S70/850. I am currently looking for another one. I have been researching my options on the web and suddenly remembered I have the best tool available to me - you people. My question is this; Does a high performance AWD model exist in the S70 style. I have seen so far that the V70 did come in R with AWD, but why in the heck didn't they make a S70 in R with AWD? The highest I have found for S70 AWD is the T5. Am I correct in this? Or is the T5 engine the same as the R? I don't believe so. Can anyone help straighten me out? And don't worry about confusing me with specs. Specs are good, I like specs. Come to think of it, specs is fun to say. Anyway, once I have your feedback, I will do a hard target search. Thank you all. Also, I forgot, I live in the States and am not looking to import. So I will be looking for only models available here. Thanks again.

Look at the thread in the S70 forum where a guy though he found a 98 S70 R. Lots of model information in there. They did not import the S70 R to the US, but did make one that stayed in Europe. It did not have AWD like the V70R though.

RE: S70 T5 R AWD? Does this exist?
Thanks for the fast reply. I did see that post, but I forget what at the time led me to post my own question. The best it looks like I can get is the 1999 S70 T5 AWD. The engine is rated at 190hp. So I think that is pretty darn good. I also found a press release from Volvo stating the T5 at 236hp. Anyway, it looks like I can get a FWD S70R or an AWD S70 T5. Thanks again. Hey, I just looked at your post. What is the T5R? An 850? Both of yours are the style I like.

RE: S70 T5 R AWD? Does this exist?
The yellow one is a 95 850 T5R. The T5R was only made in 95 and came in yellow and black with the yellow only importing 187 to the US. There were less that 30 T5R yellowwagons imported to the US, so finding one of them would be pretty cool.
The white one is a 97 850 R which is basically the same car in a different color. The 850 R was made in 96 and 97. All three of the 850 R's had 240 hp. The are getting harder and harder to find, but can be found.
The burgundy one is a 98 V70 GLT which is the low pressure turbo model with 190 hp. I have to admit it's pretty quick but nothing like the other two.
What I'm looking for now is a 98 V70 T5M which is a T5 with a five speed Manual transmission. I will get rid of the 98 GLT if I find on in bright red with charcoal interior. These cars are very hard to find with a five speed.
