S70 Trunk Latch
The trunk latch on my 1999 S70 does not respond to the remote control or the trunk release on the driver side door. I can hear clicking inside the trunk deck but the lock does not release. The key slot is in the vertical position so I did not inadvertantly disable the function. Anybody out there experience this problem? I am planning to remove the lock mechanism to inspect for a broken or disengaged part but thought i'd pulse the community first. I'll report on what, if anything, I find.
If it doese what you say then the lock is usually broke.
The really bad part is you usually have to break it all apart to get the trunk open (PITA)
Then replace with a new one.

Thanks. Yeah that would be a PITA. Fortunately, I can still open the trunk the old-fashion way, with the key.https://volvoforums.com/micons/m9.gif
Yes. I'm going to replace it. I removed it from the car and opened it up and didn't see anything that was obviously broken. Everything worked well manually but I couldn't see anything move when I used the remote, I could just hear a response. I think something is wrong with a spring deeper inside. I'll give it a little WD-40 first, but if that doesn't help I'll declare it dead.
