Should I buy this 850?
Hello All,
I have a '95 850 Turbo sedan and I love it. I have had few problems, but it is in pristine condition and I have a dog and enjoy the outdoors, so I recently started looking at 850 wagons as a second "utility" vehicle. This car has peaked my interest:
We have a 1994 850 Turbo Wagon. It has 137000 miles on it. The car looks good, rides good. It has leather interior, premium sound system, sunroof. CONS: The vehicle has a mechanical gremlin. When ever it is started initially it revs to 3000 rpms for 4-5 seconds. It then comes back down to normal operating rpms. It will do this when it is cold or when it is warmed up. We have taken it to two mechanics in the area. The first had it a month and could not figure it out, the second said the transmission module control was not good. I replaced it and it did not fix the problem. Basically I do not know what is causing this problem. This may be a good car if you have a personal mechanic, a car to commute around town, etc. We are selling the car because we have 4 vehicles and are downsizing. KBB price is $3400.00. Because of this crazy gremlin that I can not figure out we are selling it very cheap. We are asking $2000.00/OBO
Any thoughts from the pros?
Thanks for your help,
Pete

RE: Should I buy this 850?
It's worth $1,000 if it does not even run. I think $2,000 is a very reasonable asking price. If you can get it for less that's even better, but $1,000 is like asking them to give it away. I sold a 94 850 Turboto a Volvo shop for $800 with a blown engine three years ago.
