Stuck bolt!!
I was working on the car today trying to replace the front lower control arms. I got everything off the car except the rear control arm bolt. I was using a 4ft long breaker bar and sheared the crappy adapter (it was a 3/4" to 3/8" impact wrench adapter). I would have thought the socket would crack first. Anyway, that tool is getting replaced under warranty. My question is how tough are the bolts to remove, usually? I mean do most people use impact wrenches with no problems or are they resorting to torching or chiseling them off? I didn't want to resort to paying to have them done, especially when I am already 49% done.
I figured the step-down to 3/8" must have been the weak link since I broke two adapters within a week. I beefed up my socket set to 1/2" and breezed through the job. I'm glad I finally got that done, cuz I was fresh out of patience.
