Angry Sunroof Clogged Water Damage Complaint

Have a relatively new 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge. Noticed water pooling in the floor boards. All sorts of errors on the screen ( parking break error, propulsion error ). Took it into the Austin Volvo dealer. Said the sunroof drains were clogged with pine needles. We have never even opened the sunroof since buying the car. We have no pine trees in our area and have almost exclusively parked the car in our drive way. Charging $1700. I find it to be egregious as it is clearly a defect with the vehicle. If there is some required maintenance to open and clean sunroof drains, else you will suffer water damage, it needs to be communicated. We own a polestar and a Volvo. Will certainly influence future car purchases. I've seen others post of this same issue now that I google it - wonder if it is going to take a class action to get Volvo to address this obvious defect.

I purchased a 2021 CPO S60 Inscription two years ago, and three months later my rear camera stopped working. Dealer stated that water was pooled under cabin floor, corroding WAM module. Cost to clean interior and remove water, replace module was $2500. If you investigate, you will see this as a common complaint among Volvo owners. Since I must park outside, I've resorted to a partial car cover to protect the sunroof. In addition I have the drains cleaned every year. This problem is not unique to Volvo, however. Class action litigation has been tried in a number of US states, but has not been successful. I believe Volvo and its dealerships don't mention this to new owners because it is a lucrative source of income to the service departments. So almost any new Volvo owner who is forced to park their vehicle outside will encounter this problem eventually, and that's $$$ for the dealership.

That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially with a new Volvo XC40 Recharge. Dealing with unexpected water pooling and errors due to sunroof drain issues can really throw a wrench into things. When I had a similar issue with my vehicle, I reached out to a reliable water damage restoration service. They were able to clear out the drains and address any potential damage, which saved me a lot of hassle down the road. You might want to consider getting a second opinion or exploring your options further to ensure everything gets sorted out properly. If you need help, check out www.ssrestore.com —they're experts in handling these kinds of issues efficiently.
