Throttle Body question
I got the dreaded Reduced Performance message on my 2007 s40 so I’m going through all the different suggestions found on the forums. One of them is the dirty throttle body (so this remedy is the first one I’m trying) so I took it off and it did have some carbon that I cleaned off and I was getting ready to to mount it again and I noticed a sliver of light in the opening. I noticed if I pushed the flap down it would close completely and when I let go it would open just a sliver. (Click the link. See the video) Is this supposed to be like that? I wouldn’t like that amount of carbon I cleaned off would make a difference with it being like that

i knew something was going to happen soon, first, a couple weeks ago the start up idle was low and would stall occasionally after getting it started. Then it stalled waiting for a traffic signal to turn. When the Reduced Performance thing came on I read thru some forum comments, one said check your oil level, maybe I was down a quart so I drove it (revving it to keep it going) down the street to a gas station for the oil and the check engine light came on while enroute. I put one quart in tried starting it up and nothing cleared. Was going to try and drive a mile to a parts store to get a 10mm wrench to disconnect the battery to try that method of resetting to code because people said it cleared up the problem at least temporarily. On the way to the store the Reduced Performance cleared but not the CEL. Drove it maybe another 10 miles within the next two days and just at the bottom of a hill I got the full Reduced Performance ride of my life with little to no action coming from the pedal, just barely “idled” it up the hill and thank god the down side of the hill gave me enough momentum to get me home. Troubleshooting the accelerator pedal fixes next.
