Question Syn Oil Filters

I see that Mobil 1 has a specific Oil filter for their Syn Oils..is there a difference between a Syn Oil Filter and a Factory Oil filter for your car..?

If you use Syn Oil do you have to use a Syn Oil Filter or can you just use the Oil Filter that came with the car..?

I have alsways heard you should use the Factory Oil filter no matter what kind of Oil you use...

They claim that the filter was developed for longer change intervals. IMO, they are just trying to cash-in on the billion dollar industry and use their brand recognition to do so. You don't have to use a Syn filter because you want to use Syn oil and vice versa. It may or may not be a better product but the OE one works fine under normal use.

I always use Baldwin or Wix filters. They are great for extended drain intervals.

It's definitely not a money making gimick! The stock filters all filter particles down to 16-18 microns. The higher end filters take it down to 10 microns. In the case of Amsoil filters it is 8 microns. Is it worth the extra $$$. Only you can decide. Tom
