Default Timing belt, camshaft seal, crank shaft hose....

Hey guys,
I'm new here. Just got a 2005 S60. 115,000 mile. Need your help. I am looking to have the maintenance done. I don't really know of a good mechanic here in the New Orleans area, so I am not sure if the price I'm being quoted by a guy nearby is comparable or a rip-off.

Necessary repairs: cam shaft seals, replace timing belt, crank shaft breather hose. What do you guys think it should cost for these repairs?

What should I look for in a good Volvo mechanic?

Thanks.

There is no "crank shaft breather hose"... Is it the PCV breather hose? Is the PCV clogged? If so, is it also being replaced?

Sorry ES6T. Wrong terminology. Crank case breather hose. This is the part he is recommending.

My bigger problem is the timing belt w/ water pump kit. Wants to charge $464.72 for the part. I have seen others online for somewhere in the $200's. Can you recommend a site where I can buy one to save some money and have him install it?
THx.

Okay, thought so. If the cam seals are leaking, the PCV system may also be clogged. He won't be able to test it if that hose is broken.

Labor to do cam seals and the timing belt would be 4.2 hours which includes front and rear seals. To add the water pump, there is no set labor to account for overlap with the timing belt, but he shouldn't chargw more than an hour. The hose is .5. So labor price should be 5.7 hours times whatever his labor rate is.

Sounds like he is using Volvo parts, which I would recommend. The Volvo timing belt kit alone is about $220. The pump is about $175. Add some coolant and a serpentine belt in and his price sounds right. I would not recommend getting a cheap water pump or timing belt kit.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna Get it done soon. I understand things can get really bad if the timing belt breaks.
