Default Tire pressure transmitter

I have a 2008 XC90. i recently broke a tire valve stem and had it replaced at a Goodyear Tire shop who didn't have a replacement tire pressure sensor/transmitter unit - they used a regular tire stem.

Hence, i have only 3 tire pressure sensors active on the car. However, my low tire pressure indicator, and associated warning message, rarely comes on. if it does come on, it will go off after a minute or two and stay off for hours.

I assume the indicator/message should stay on constantly. I suspect this is an electronics issue.

Any thoughts?

I had 4 very expensive Volvo tire pressure sensors installed last month in Plattsburgh, NY and the light never went off. I took the V70 to a local garage and they said "looks like you got the wrong sensors." Is this an option?
