Default tires for 240

I have three Volvo 240s. The wagons take P185/R/14 tires, not P185/75R/14 which are 1 inch smaller in diameter. I have found that P195/75R14 are very close to original. Can I also use P205 tires? Has anyone here used P205 tires on their 240 and which other dimensions are OK to use so they won't hit the fenders? I would like to get these for both front and rear and I want to hear from others who have used other sizes before I buy these.

I usually kept close to standard size and they always served me well. I use to get about 90,000 miles out of good Michelin's.
