TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP?
My 2002 XC70 seems to have a weird downshift. It's an automatic by the way. But, when I am in town it seems that the tranny is searching for the best gear to be in. But when I am slowing down for whatever, stoplight, general slowdown, the tranny "seems" to clunk as if going out of torque converter lock up. I notice that the RPM's are basically nill at this point of shifting. Did volvo try and get the MPG up there by allowing torque lock up so early in the MPH and RPM ranges? My Subaru Outback 3.0H has what they call drive by wire technology, so they say, and it takes a fair amount of gas pedal pressure to make it downshift unless I am in sport mode.
Service has always been completed by Bobby Rahal Volvo in PA but I did see that there might be some service bulletins on this??????

RE: TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP?
O.K. thanks. I also read that the tranny fluid should be changed asap twice in row. Someone on this forum suggested a type of Toyota auto fluid to use as it is the best one out there for this car???? Sorry, can't remember exactly the part number or name Toyota calls their fluid. I will call the dealership and see if there are or have been any software upgrades completed for my car since I did buy it used as certified. Thanks again.
