Default traction control light on dash

I took my wife's 06 V70t out in the snow. Yes, I hit the "W" button, but I have a question about the traction control indicator light. It flashes on and off very, very fast. Is this normal? The manual doesn't tell me that traction control goes on and off every 1/10 of a second.

Thanks.

BTW, the "W" button just seems to start the car in second gear -- not unlike Ford automatics did in the 60's and 70's if you put in the right spot. Am I right on this one?

I am not sure as to the TRAC light, as I have never driven a car with such fancy device. Other members should be able to help you on this one.

Yes the W mode starts the car either in the 2nd or 3rd gear to alleviate wheel slippage.
