Default Trouble shooting heating/cooling fan

Bought the car and the fan didn"t work. Pulled out glove box and found harness into the resistor unplugged, plugged it back in and it doesn't work (not surprised). It looks caroaded. checked for resistence with multimeter and found nothing. I do have voltage to the harness though (which is good).

So where can I find a new resistor???

Next on the back side of the blower motor there is a purple wire, it was also pulled and in it's place was a crimped wire connector with nothing attached. I assume this is the power to the motor???? Should it be 12VDC???? I want to run a jumper wire from 12VDC to it and see if it runs.

Why would someone disconnect these wires???? Harness to resistor pack and power to motor???
