Hello Every one.

I drive a Volvo 2004 XC90.
My battery went dead. After installing a new one. I got a Message on the dash that my airbag restraint system needed urgent service. I Used FIXD that diagnosed that the car computer system had no codes to address, yet the message persists.. Have tried to erase that message, but it still appears

I have tried to reset the message using you tube instructions , but, no fix. I am reaching out to the Volvo Forum for help

Anyone had the same or similar problem and know how to fix the bad message.

 

Volvo diagnostic is tricky. Some common OBD dongles cannot erase the DTC codes. You have to turn to professional diagnostic scan tools.

SRS airbag ID:

0x1dd01c01
0x737

if you can inject CAN messages into OBD port, try the followings:
read DTC: [above ID] 0x19 02 20
clear DTC [above ID] 0x14 FF FF FF

That means there is a self diagnostic code stored in the SRS system - that is only (or commonly for normal folks) accessible with a compatible scan tool. You scan the car, read the code, write it down (in case it comes back soon) and try to erase it. If it goes away great - if not proceed to next step diagnosing problem.

Does your $39 FIXD read SRS codes? Or just OBD related emission codes? You have to read a code to be able to erase it.

If there are no codes with a compatible scan tool - you might need one of these, look down near the bottom of the page under "common failure symptoms" for srs warning light on problems
