v40 misfiring please help!!
Hi there, I have a Volvo 1.8 v40 T reg (99) I recently replaced the coils and leads because it was hesitating when accelerating in second and first gears and this seemed to solve the problem, however my wife told me she needed to get an MOT done, so I told her to park it on the drive until I come home (I work away) and I’ll get it done myself when I get back. I started the car when I got back (roughly two weeks later) but now it is misfiring and throwing liquid/petrol (black stuff from the exhaust) and what I think is the engine management light is on I tried to change the coils & leads again but it still does the same thing??? i had to get a key cut 4 months ago but they couldn’t clone the old keys immobiliser chip so the guy in the Volvo shop said just hold the old key under the ignition when starting the car and it should be fine which it was, this happened some time ago and didn’t seem to be a problem but i thought i would mention it just in case. my wife said the car was running fine when she parked it??

I would first try to read codes from the ECU. See if there are auto parts shops in your region that provide OBD-II code retrieval service. In the United States, AutoZone & other parts franchises do this service for free.
