V90 T8 Hybrid tech issue
Hi guys, New member here. I’ve trawled the forums for help with my issue and found nothing so apologies if I have missed it.
My car is 2019 V90 T8 Hybrid estate with 14k on the clock, 10K when I purchased in Dec.
Volvo are looking at an issue for me and are saying it is normal behaviour for the car which I do not believe! Randomly when you pull away the car switches into manual shift mode with no prompting from the driver, no touching of the paddles it just does it on its own which is really frustrating as you are effectively end up racing the engine in first gear. It won’t shift back into auto unless you shift the gear lever from D-B or vice versa. It happens when the car is cold or hot and also it happens mid journey if you stop and start again without turning the ignition off but s totally random with no pattern.
The issues was demonstrated to the Volvo tech and they went away to investigate further. A couple of days later I chased for an update to be told that the tech had driven an identical model in the showroom and that did the same so it must be normal. I dug my heels in and said there is no way this it part of the design of the gearbox or car for it to do that and demanded they contact Volvo directly. Two weeks later after chasing several times I was updated by a tech that said Volvo had acknowledged an issue with the gearbox and they were having to bring in an expensive tool on hire to carry out some work on the gearbox to sort the problem out and would be in touch last min to book in. I called today and spoke to the head tech for an update as I have the car booked in this Fri for some service work and wanted to kill two birds with one stone. He proceeds to tell me his other tech was incorrect and Volvo have said e car just needs a software update but if that doesn’t cure it I’ll have to take it up with Volvo directly.
My question is, is anybody aware of this issue at all as I can’t find anything about it anywhere but I am 100% certain it shouldn’t do it and I’m prepared to hand the car back to them which is a shame because I love the car however this is too frustrating to stand as a full time normal occurrence.
Thanks in advance.
I will update on Friday.
