Default VIBRATION

WHEN I AM COMING TO A STOP I GET ALOUD VIBRATION NOISE AND FEELING, IT GETS VERY HARMONIC AS I BRAKE SLOWER AND SLOWER. THERE IS NO PULSING IN THE PEDAL. MY EMERGANCY BRAKE SEEM TO HAVE LOST ITS GRIP AND THE LEVER TO APPLY IT IS VERY SLOPPY. I FEEL THE THE E BRAKE SOME HAS NOT RELEASED ALL THE WAY AND IS SOME HOW IS THE CAUSE OF THIS. IS THE ABS MODULE ANY WAY TIED INTO THIS? THE IS A 1996 850 GLT WAGON.

My guess is that you have warped rotors.

For the E-brake you can adjust the cable in the center console to make it tighter.

WELL THAT WAS MY THOUGHT TOO..... BUT I HAVE HAD CARS BEFORE WITH WARP ROTORS AND THEY BEHAVED DIFFERENTLY AND I ALWAY THOUGHT I COULD FEEL IT IN THE PEDAL. HMMMMMMMMMM WELL THE ROTORA ARE A PLACE TO START, WOULD YOU HAVE THEM TURNED OR REPLACED?

I would replace the rotors Volvo rotors don't like to be turned.

Do you feel vibration in the steering wheel?

Usually Vibration in the wheel is fronts and vibration in the pedal is the rears.

For the console there is 2 t-25 screws holding the cubby in front of the shifter in.Then there is 2 t-15 screws holding the console to the body.

But before you do that look in the hole under the armrest lid. There should be a big Torxes screw for adjusting the e-brake.
It should be in the front of the hole from where you remove the 2 8mm screws.

Tech,

Any words of wisdom on how to make the e-brake adjustment on the '01 XC70? The pads and rotors are new - looks like they forgot to adjust to the handle.

THX - Steve

p.s. I tried to search first - didn't really find a previous post...
