Volvo 2007 S-80 Windshield/headlight washer system problem
Forum:
We are constantly adding fluid to the reservoir, without using any of the washers, only to have it lose volume over a few day(s) time even when the car has not been driven. The dealer replaced a hose to the headlight washer claiming there was a pinhole leak($300 with labor) after which upon bringing the car home, adding fluid twice, and not driving for a week there was no washer fluid visible in the neck of the reservoir. A return to the dealer and they found no leaks, however for the first 2 days they had the car, the level did go down. Their theory was air pockets in the system. It is still losing a small volume of fluid over a period of days without any use. We cannot find anything wet on the underside of the car, nor a visible puddle, although over the period of the 7 months we have owned this car there is a blue stain underneath the driver's side front tire area. Any ideas?

The hose the dealer replaced is a common failure. How much fluid is being lost? Its common for the filler neck to leak where it connects to the reservoir. This would only cause a loss of a small amount of fluid though and most people don't notice it. I have also seen headlight washer sprayers leak.
