Volvo 240 93/90 engine swap
I have a 1993 Volvo 240 with 5-spd manual transmission and I want to replace the worn out engine with an engine from a 1990 240 automatic. I want to retain the stick shift and I don't want to have to change harnesses or electronic modules. I want to use the 93 ignition system and fuel injection and just change the engine keeping the head intact.
Will the 93 parts fit on the 90 engine so I can use the 93 flywheel position sensor, and the slightly different 93 fuel injection parts to basically turn the 90 engine into a 93 engine? How many parts do I need to change to do this and will it all fit? The car is almost 25 years old so emissions will not be a problem. Has anyone here done this before and how many problems will I encounter? Thanks, all advice is appreciated.
