Volvo 3g officially sunset as of today in north NJ
It's official.....3g deactivated on my 2017 s60 as of today. Retailers halted upgrade to 4g as they ran into software issues. As of now, there is no fix until software issue is resolved. NJ is friggin cold right now, have to go out to my car to start it. So use to starting my car from inside when going to and leaving work .
you know you sound whiney( whiny) you live there deal with it. used to go out at 530 am to start up my car so I could leave for work at 6:30.Thats one reason I moved to Georgia. It is 75 here today march 3

This is a carrier issue. AT&T and everyone else turned 3G off to use the resources for 5G. This has been coming for years.
My 2016 XC70 and other cars should have been built with 4G, it was available and that’s on Volvo. My home Simply safe modem was in the same predicament, they sent me a free plug in chip. It took me 5 minutes to update. Obviously cars are more complex as they have to replace ECN device. I wonder why they did not upgrade to 5G, there is full nationwide coverage with fall back to 4G.
It’s costing the consumer full price of $355.00 (what I payed), plus $86.00 for a program reload, and $377.00 in labor to install it. Total bill of $753.00 and it does not work due to firmware issues.
Volvo totally dropped the ball on this. Their website had no updates for an entire year, it just said we would have a solution in Q1 of 2021. So let’s just pile on and blame this all on Covid, ya right. And we were not having the global chip and supply chain issues in 2021.
Bottom line they will fix it some day and we just have to wait and pay the price.
Did Volvo even test this in real cars? and the dealer never checked my car, the display still showed 3G, and the internet settings menu showed it continuously trying to connect followed by the UPN error screen. As of May 25, neither Volvo or the dealer has an ETA.
