Full synthetic is always better but understand that seals that are in poor condition may give if you have NOT been using synthetic oils (so I've heard). I switched to synthetic in my daughter's S70 and a few months later I had to replace all four cam seals and a block gasket.

As for the area temp, I don't think that matters much on the type of oil as much as the weight. I'm a little bothered by the fact that it's getting hard for me to find 10w-30 with the new oil types. I actually like to run 10w-40 in the summer and can NOT find that anywhere in my area with the newer oils. I have to run around town and find older oil stashes to purchase. Stores that turn their oils faster are stocking this 0w-30 and 5w-40 stuff and I'm not sure if that's good for my turbo motor or not.

Haifa, Israel? Partner, that's a walk in the park. Come on down here to Texas if you want some hot weather! 31 centigrade for a high where you are...41 here...synthetic works great in turbo cars because it doesn't cook down to coke in the turbo oil passages the way traditional oil will. My personal experimentation has led me to believe that 10W-30 is best for turbos. N/A cars I run 20W-50.

Synthetic is great! I use the semi synthetic due to the fact that it lubes the older seals better than newer synthetic oils. just as was stated in the earlier thread.

Default Dealer knows!

Usually, your dealer is supposed to know and can give you some advices. I think that if they build an engine, they know what goes in it!!better chat with a mechanic who works on Volvos for many years instead of a young mechanic who is learning on yours!! Volvos are great cars so they need great care. Take good care of it and it will last.
