This was an interesting article I just read. I've been a proponent of Ford and Volvo parting ways and commented along those lines on another thread recently, including cutbacks Ford is requiring of Volvo, and the effects of dwindling N.A. market share. Glad to learn I wasn't too far off the mark.

That said, I'm not wild about either the Russians or the Chinese buying them. Personally I'd like to see Volvo return to being a Swedish-owned car company if possible. That's probably the only way to truly retain their identity and individuality, just like Harley Davidson did after parting ways with AMF.
