Default A Volvo R engine in a Mustang?????

I was tlaking to a guy that said he put a Volvo R engine in a 66 Ford Mustang! He said he made mount to turn it the right way and had a machine shop make a trans housing that worked. I think he was on drugs but has anyone ever heard of some one retrofitting a Volvo engine into another type car? Can you even buy the computer to make it run if it is not in a Volvo?

Okay, but this guy was going the other way with a R engine into a Mustang. Is it possible?

I have never seen that but would kind of like to. All you would have to do is use the Volvo harness in there after all the mountes were made.

I have seena couple peoplemount the 20valve motors in their 242s. Itlooks pretty much the same as doing the V8 swap.
You would have to run a programmable engine management for those swaps.

Sure you can...my only question would be why? There are so many Ford motor options that would have been sooo much simpler. And, I too have heard rumors of V8's into 240's, 740's and 940's. Ross Converse has been making an SBF conversion kit for 15 years while Jags That Run generate a book with step by step instructions for using the much heavier 350 GM block. Here's a pic of the engine bay of my 90 740GL: It's a 347 stroker. Room? Much more in the 240 as the engine sits lower. My intake clears the hood by about an inch.

And, for those that feel turboing an n/a rwd is cost prohibitive, this is my 89 245 w/ a 94 940T motor installed. I could just as easily turboed the original engine but it was completely worn out. I did the entire thing for a grand.
