Default What to do with a bent valve volvo

Hey guys,

I have a 1990 740 GLE that ate a timing belt and bent some valves. It's in nice shape otherwise.

I am about to sell it (albeit for very cheap) to the picknpull. Any other ideas?

Negative, that started in 1991.

Plan B. Find your motor at the automotive "recycling" yard and do a swap. I know there are rebuilders for BMW, Mercedes and old time British sports cars. Maybe there's the same for Volvo engines.

You'll be taking a chance, of course, since you'll know nothing about the history of the replacement. But it will be cheaper than a new car. A professionally rebuilt one might just do the trick for another 100K!

Plan C. Employ Plan B and locate a replacement head for your engine. Assuming that you didn't damage pistons, connecting rods or any other "lower" part of the engine. And do a "top end" replacement on your engine to keep or even swap back if Plan B's engine is an oil burner, etc.

This is in fact the B234f, twin cam dohc. It's the one the Ford people sometimes use to replace their sohc heads.

Does anyone know how much the pick n pull gives for cars?

The head alone can fetch upwards of $300. Assuming it is in good shape, but yours has some bendies.
Tires and Rims $100-$800 depending on which factory or aftermarket wheels you got.
Suspension parts, trans, etc. all sellable.

Not sure homuch the PnP could give. Find out?

Replace the valves? Really not difficult.

Regards, Andrew.
