Here's my opinion.

PRO'S:
1. Safety.
2. Style (especially the 850s).
3. Strong acceleration (turbo models only).
4. Sharp handling, even with outdated McPherson fronts.

CON'S:
1. Poorly designed electrical/electronic systems (same for all European makes).
2. Fragile interior parts (same for any make).
3. Price tag for new cars.

To me, Volvo means...
1. Safety.
2. Durability.
3. Scandinavian (well of course).
4. Something different from others.

A turboed Volvo + a Lexus (or an NSX) would make my life very happy.

Negatives:
[ol][*]Lots of minor things go wrong[*]Very expensive to fix[*]Can't match the design/engineeringbrilliance or reliablity of Honda, but then, no one can[/ol]
These overall comments are similar to what I'd say of Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Compared to those cars, Volvo gives up something in sportiness and to Mercedes in luxury, but, it beats them in safety and in overall value for the money.
