What is the down side of an AC hack job?

Default What is the down side of an AC hack job?
My buddy want to change his AC compressor and not have the system professionally serviced. Wants to just let the freon go, swap the compressor, then service it up with a couple of cans of 134. Whats the down side to that hack job?

Vacuuming the system is to remove moisture, which will corrode parts.
