XC70 Lock Cylinder Questions
Our 2006 XC70 (Volvo #7 of 9) was stolen. A month later recovered and towed to repair shop. The column lock had been broken. I was sure that the repairs would be covered by insurance, so I asked the shop to order a non-returnable lock# 31253385 from Volvo dealer. He was going to key lock by vin#. We have both fobs.
Insurance company suggested drug test. Came back positive for a trace of meth. and fentanyl. They also found a half eaten hamburger in the center console of the second row. Sure it was grandkids and not thieves. Test company said hamburger none toxic. Test company said that the vehicle could be decontaminated and retested. But insurance company insisted that they total it. So, I paid shop for lock.
I am looking for suggestions on how to recoup some $$$$ for the lock. Since we have keys for new lock, could a potential buyer reprogram fobs for their Volvo? Can they get a dealer or other rekey lock for a different Volvo keys? Costs? Other ideas?
Thanks
