Xemodex feedback
I'm looking at buying a CEM from XeModex for my 2003 XC90. Can anyone send me feedback on how they went if they bought from this company? I'd like to know all the good stuff / horror stories before I commit. Their CEM has been modified to avoid overheating - which all early model XC90 owners will realise is the reason they fail and an inherent problem with the part. I can't ascertain whether the replacement Volvo part (part# 30657629) has been modified to handle heat better. Things get pretty warm in Western Australia. Any feedback is most welcome.
Well I took the plunge after failing to get any feedback from this site about Xemodex. After bouncing emails back and forth with them, I was convinced that it would work in my vehicle so ordered a CEM from them. The part arrived 3 days later! Over the weekend! That was amazing to me in itself - well done Xemodex. Anyway, I had it installed by my favourite mechanic who took it along to Volvo to program. Volvo bitched about it apparently but did the deed anyway and hey presto - it works! Doing the research and buying the part myself has saved me about $1100. I still feel that it's a risk to have bought a part from Canada for an installation in Australia as if by chance it does fail, I'm screwed. But after viewing their website and getting feedback about what they do, I thought that such innovation should be rewarded and giving Volvo even more money was something I was trying to avoid (especially as I'd be buying the same Volvo part that will eventually fail again anyway). I hope this helps someone who has a similar problem with a 2003 XC90 CEM, the service from Xemodex was excellent and so far - so good.
