Default 06 S40 stock muffler???!!!

You have got to check this out!!!! The stock exhaust has an extra pipe that is welded shut on the driver side of the muffler. It looks like you can cut off the weld and add duals. If anyone has noticed this please reply. My local muffler shop noticed this.

I went to the local muffler shop where my friend works. We hoisted the car up cut a pinhole where the dual seemed to be welded off and found there was pressure. We guessed that it is the same muffler that is on the T5. I am ordering magnaflow tips for both sides, running new pipes from muffler to tips and cutting off one of the two resonators for better sound. Im using a dremel to cut rear valance to make room for the 3" stainless tips. If that is not enough sound I will cut off both resonators. I dont want to have that rice burner sound. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Well if you want some sound get a Flowmaster muffler installed with 2.5" piping, that will sound very nice. If your turboed go 2.5" plus a Magnaflow muffler.

It is not a turbo so the flowmaster would be your choice. Will the flowmaster give it a deeper tone or a rice burner sound. Also will I need to remove any resonators. Which flowmaster should I use. Thanks

Since it isn't turboed I suggest a Flowmaster because Flowmaster's use baffles unlike Maganflows which are straight through design.

It shouldn't sound ricey at all. And if you get 2.5" piping from the engine all the way back you wont need resonators because that piping will eliminate them anyways.

when you say "from the engine back" are you saying to cut off or replace the catalytic converter? also which flowmaster should i use? the only cross flow they offer for duals is the 80 series which is one of the loudest and is recommended for cameros. i would like a cross flow because there is not much room to run pipe back to driver side. thanks

When I say from the engine back. I mean a full CATBACK SYSTEM. Replace the CAT and everything with new.
