Default EST Catback - S60 AWD/R

Okay, so I had decided to get a catback for my 2002 S60 AWD 2.4T and finally settled on EuroSport Tuning after doing some research.

I ordered the exhaust last Wednesday and it arrived on Friday.

To my surprise the kit was for the R model, mine is just the AWD as they didn't make the R in 2002. I spoke to the guys at EST and they were very helpful with figuring out what happened and exactly what parts I had, they were going to ship out the AWD kit when I decided to keep the R unit dince it fits the same on my AWD. Anyways, the only real difference between the AWD kit and R kit is that the R muffler has twin outlets instead of a single outlet, the rest of the kit is the same for both models.

So here are some pics:

Overall the exhaust seems to be very well made, all the parts fit together fine, the welds look great the install was very straight forward. I wasn't surprised to see that the twin tips were a little tight in the bumper cutout so I did a very slight trim job with a dremel to accommodate the larger tips. The sound is similar to stock but deeper at idle, a bit louder and deeper from idle to 4K and then about the same or maybe just a little louder till redline. This exhaust is not loud by any means but does have a very pleasant tone under hard acceleration and cruise.

All in all I have not major complaints, seems like EST is an excellent company is making some very nice exhausts for our Volvos.

Nice..IMO..the twin tips look better than the single.
Do you have a vid or sound clip of it?
All you need now is a better downpipe.

I keep liking the twin tips more and more as I look at the car. These pics really don't do it justice for some reason it just looks sick in person.

I will get a vid up shortly, i also have a short vid of the car with only DP and cat installed, it was pretty loud and pretty cool. But with this catback on it's pretty quiet overall, just a bit deeper at idle and low rpm and just a bit louder through the rpms. I get to drive it on the highway for the first time tomorrow so we'll see what it sounds like at 80mph....

Nice...
I tried just a downpipe on my 745t and it wasn't that bad, but when you get on it...It will give the neighbors hell.
I was thinking about a EST exhaust, but I think I am just going to do a custom turbobackexhaustwith a high flow cat anda magna flow muffler.

If you want the exhuast louder...you can also replace the resinator/ center muffler with a straight pipe.

EDIT: I like your wheel color... did you paint them or some one else paint them?

I got to drive it to work today on the highway and I was quite pleased with the exhaust note at 80mph, there is no droning what so ever and it's a very pleasant deeper tone. I believe that the exhaust is getting louder, I have only driven the car for two hours total after having it installed but it is definitley louder today than Sunday.

At idle inside the car you can easily notice the nice deep bassy exhaust, and when pulling onto on ramps and highways it sounds great, lets some of the throatiness come through while maintaining a very refined sound.

I had thought of replacing the resonator with straight pipe and I might very well do that in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the compliment on the wheels, I painted them myself and was pleased with the results. I used Duplicolor Wheel Paint, though I had to do them twice becuase the first time they came out like poop, I had to get used to the paint and it helps to be able to do all four wheels at the same time so you can look at them all side by side.

Custom should be okay if it's a good shop, the benefit of buying a EST exhaust is the amount of time and money they devote to tuning these exhausts for particular models. I was thinking of going custom but I only wanted a catback and I know EST is a great Volvo tuning company.

If you do remove the resinator...it will get loud, but it willalso have the droning inside the car.
Yeah EST has an exhaust for my car butI would really like to know what it sounds like before i buy it.
Some EST exhaust on youtube sound like S*** and others sound good.
I want a deep note andI really don't care how loud it is, but as long as there is no majordroning in side the car.
If you say it is deep that is cool but that is a different motor than mine. BE Nice to see your vid.

Just a stupid question for you...Why do you have two tips?

They shipped me the kit for the S60R instead of the S60 AWD, the only difference is the R muffler has two outlets.

ohhh. I was wondering what you meant.

Yeah they give you two sets of tips, one pair has "EuroSport Tuning" engraved on them and one set is not engraved. The engraved ones have a nicer finish and the rolled end which looks much better in my opinion.

Ok...Well that was nice of them.
Look good eitherway. Sell the other tip your not using.
Next up isa 3indownpipe.
A downpipe will make the exhaust note even throatier.

Yeah DP would be nice but it's not on my list at this point, this is my daily driver and I'm not going to be messing with the boost levels anytime soon. I do like this particular cat back though.
