Default 1990 Volvo 240 sedan, differential speed sensor/rear speed sensor

I recently bought a cheap 240 in Austin and nobody else seems to have them out and about if there are any others around, in need of some problem solving

So, first off... It's impossible to find all the right parts for most of everything I need (new) but I bought a new rear axle speed sensor (was told by the previous owner that Volvo mechanics told him the sensor needed to be replaced) anywho, I went ahead and bought one and it isn't exactly what I need to make it fit the cover. The wiring for the old sensor needs to be redone or replaced but I can't find that anywhere either. My question is, do I need to find a new cover? Or can I make the one I have work? Pictures attached

Old sensor attached to diff cover. I'm a-frayed the wires are done for but there seems to be a ground of some sort?

New sensor in bag with ring for ground and or bolt.
