Default 1999 Volvo c70R

All, I have only seen 2 threads on here about the very rare Volvo c70r. One said there is no such thing, the other said it was a special edition 1 of 100 imported into a few dealerships in the US. Last year, my parents gave my daughter their 1999 Volvo C70r, that they purchased new in 99. They lived in NJ, purchased the car from a dealer in CA and had it shipped to NJ. I know my father, would have never just added an R badge to the car and we have some documentation that it was sold as a Type R. However, I can not find any more detailed information about what is/was included with the Type R suspension package, nor can I find any real information on how many of the R's were actually brought into the US in 1999. My daughters is a nautical blue with blue top and grey interior and is really just a beautiful car. Any info that can be provided would be very useful, so thanks in advance.

thanks for sending this and looking it up. So, as I do more research this was a dealer add-on. Is there a way to find out more about that?

Sounds like the dealer sold an R badge.

We sell a lot of 'R' emblems to customers that just want to 'upgrade their Volvo to an R model'

As I said, there is no way my Dad would have had anyone just add an R badge to what was actually my Mom's car. Which is why it has only 60,000 original miles on it after 17 years. What I have been able to find out with more digging is it was a dealer option for a suspension package, but I can not find out much more then that.

I actually have a 99 C70 here right now. I ran its VIN and it has literally the same shocks and struts as yours. If it was a "dealer option", then I'm not sure the updated suspension codes would come up with the VIN though. You would have to call the selling dealer and ask for the history. It should be in their system. It isn't an R though.
