1999 volvo s70 won't start
Hi, this is my first time in this forum so i am going to be as clear as possible. I bought this car because they said it need it a fuel pump and the price was right. Car only have 124,000 miles. After some research find out that the car have a new after market fuel pump. The car will start when you crack it but will shoot off withing second. I check fuel and it is getting fuel. I took off the fuel injectors and notice that when you start it at the beginning they spray gas but only for a second so that mean that the injector are shooting down after a few second. if i spray gasoline or starter fluid it will run for as long as i spray it. I am getting this code: 9400, 6120, 902a. The one that consent me the most is the last one because it has to do with the throttle unit. My question: Can it be something like a key need to be flash or maybe the computer? I am afraid that it may be the trottle need it to be repair wish is very expensive. Any idea anyone please. This is my first volvo and it may be my last.
Welcome. As a point of help for new-comers -- search. Google, the threads already created, whatever you chose, just search. It's helpful.
9400 is brake pedal sensor
ECM 6120 is Engine Cooling Fan Relay
902a...could this have been given to you incorrectly? Should it be 209a? That's an O2 sensor code. Or a mechanic reading with ODBII and not a Volvo-specific reader
Have you actually replaced the fuel pump? A shockingly high portion of fuel pumps are shipped out of the factory not working. You can pull it and test it, but if it's not OEM that won't help you either. Start with what you were told was wrong, if the problem persists, then move on to the other codes.
I don't see what good a key or computer flash would do you. You've seen with your own eyes that the engine gets fuel, and then the fuel suddenly stops flowing. Sounds like fuel pump is a highly likely culprit to me, new or not.
All 3 of those codes will need to be addressed pretty soon if you are looking to keep this car and operate it safely.

Jcedor: thank you for reply to my ad. My concern is that the injector stop sending gasoline because they stop getting the pulse signal. I tested the connection and they get signal when I crank it but only for 1 or 2 second, in that lap of time the car will start but intermediately shut up when the signal stop. I disconnected the fuel pump line and check the pressure and it was good. Any idea.
Well it look like this forum wasn't mush help. No option but to sell my beautiful candy red Volvo. Been waiting for days but not reply and in the dealer will charge me more than the price of the car.
