Default 2004 xc90 T6 checkup

Hello everyone,
I'm new here andI own a 2004 xc90 T6 in beautiful condition that I bought 2 years ago. I knew the guy had put in a new alternator 6 months back and had the receipt for it. The battery kept dying so I replaced the battery with a higher CCA one and when this didn't fix it I put in another new alternator knowing that these can be faulty. It was okay for a little while then kept having a dead battery again. After plenty of research I realized that Volvos require a certain type of voltage regulator so I found the right one and replaced it. I live near Wpg, Manitoba. It has been great since. A couple months ago I changed headlights to LEDs and had the famous bulb failure which was okay as I expected it. I knew it needed the little ballasts to fix that but regardless I drove it like that for months. All was good. Then suddenly I had issues where the lights on both the front door panels were flickering. I continued to drive it like that then I thought it must be the lights getting heated or something so I changed back to my normal headlights. I thought it might take a while to fix itself so kept driving it a few times. Then I started having weird issues on top of the door panel lights flickering with the radio and heater working but I was not able to control them with the switches. Now it has ghosts. The next day started it up and the headlights were surging and the interior controls of all accessories were bizarre. Now I have a message of over voltage which was quit obvious. I proceeded to check all the fuses before blaming the computer at this point. I guess it could be the voltage regulator again but when I went to check the fuses in the rear wheel well compartment I found a nice big mound of my insulation from the cover piled up neatly with some fresh mouse poop on the side. I live in the country and I did have the vehicle in the shop for a couple weeks during a very cold -30 spell while I changed out the timing and serpentine belts, water pump and all tensioners. This gives plenty of time for the critters to move in. I usually park outside but this was just an invitation for them. I am quite convinced that the wiring has been chewed somewhere and is affecting the BCM. I know this is long and drawn out but I figured Id tell the whole story before I get a lot of questions that I can just answer in the beginning.
We could call MPI and put in a mice claim. They will get it cleaned for my deductible but by experience of this with our truck, we can then take it to the service shop of our choice and have the team inspect to see if the damage to the electrical has been done by the mice and if they say it was not then I would have to pay for the inspection myself which, at volvo, Im sure, will be a horrendous price. I do not trust any garages and we do all our own work so we know it is done right and without ripping anyone off. I would like to just clean and inspect all the wires myself and repair what is needed. If it is the computer then so be it, I'll deal with it then.
Has anyone had success with a good honest volvo tech in Winnipeg where I can take it for a thorough inspection at a decent cost? I haven't started cleaning it yet as Im so undecided what to do here. I know it will be a long process to check the million wires in this vehicle but I believe the service people just rely on their scanners and I can and have certainly don't his myself. Of course it says it's the computer but there are so many components to the computer. It's so frustrating that I can't trust anyone. In the states they can take their Volvos to the dealership and they will give a report card showing everything that is wrong with the vehicle. This would include pages of faults with repair costs in hopes it wasn't worth it and you'd buy a new vehicle, hopefully from them. Smart on their part right? Any positive input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
