Unhappy 2006 Volvo S60 T5 Front End Noise

My S60 T5 is in very good condition but during cold weather it sounds like tin cans being ripped apart in the front end when you hit the smallest bump. It started off on passenger side and within a month, both sides. Struts still are very solid and the car handles well. Warm weather the sound goes away.
Any ideas?

noises in the front end are typically the strut mounts, sway bar end links or sway bar bushings. Give a look around but your description suggests metal on metal. Anything else going on - like does it change with power (ie a motor mount) or when turning?
