Hey Guys,
So yesterday my reverse went out, when I put it in reverse I still hear the transmission go into reverse it just won't move I have heard numerous things on what could be wrong, any ideas? I have been told to check the PNP Switch and the Selector cable. If anybody has any other ideas please let me know, Thanks.

 

start by doing a shifter row (ie key in position 2, move shifter from P to L to P 20x fast. that may clean up the PNP switch enough to get it to read correctly

 

I tried that last night and nothing happened, do you think its the switch actually needing to be changed?

 

check out volvotips.com - you can use the OBD1 LED to check if there's any transmission codes that would indicate if a solenoid or other transmission component set a fault.
